Santa in the Chimney

Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie (cookies!)

My kids don't like pumpkin pie. (What is wrong with them?!?!?!? This year, I outsmarted them. I made them "Pumpkin Pie" slice cookies. No leftovers here, these pie slices were gone in an instant.

3-in-1

Celebrating more than one birthday at once? It's not a requirement to have separate cakes. Believe it or not, even 3 birthdays can be combined in one. This cake was for a friend's fiance, son & daughter. When you're able to get everyone together for a celebration, it's a lot easier to celebrate all at once!!!

Halloween is my favorite holiday. This cake was the centerpiece of our dinner table (right next to the witch's brew)! Just the right size, dessert for 2 meals!

Spider Cookies

COOKIES, COOKIES, COOKIES!!! There were cookies-a-plenty floating around the kitchen until dropped off at the kids' classes at school. These were not your "ordinary" pumpkin cut-out cookies, but they were a lot of fun!

cookies were a thank you for George for going "above & beyond"!

Yes, MORE soccer treats!!! This time I had a little more time to work on these. These soccer ball cookies are actually textured.

Soccer Team Treats

When it's your turn to bring the treats for the soccer team, what's a mom to do??? That's right, you make "Express Cookies". Living a crazy schedule sometimes makes it hard to do all of the fancy decorating you can at other times. These "express" cookies came together the night before the game.

The soccer ball design was actually airbrushed on (thus the "express"

title)! Of course the kids had to have matching drinks.

3D dinosaur

My son is absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs. This cake was a total surprise

for him on his birthday this year. Although the cake didn't turn out to my

expectations.....he was totally thrilled with the cake. Naturally you don't see

many orange dinos (of course you don't see any dinos, I hope), but he

is a Gator fan. His favorite colors are orange, blue & green.

Bird cake

My son decided he wanted a "bird cake" for his birthday. Thinking that this request must have been influenced by the "Rio" movie, I figured a scarlet macaw (or something similar) would do the trick. It did indeed. He was very pleased, and more than willing to be the one to "bite the head off" this little birdie! The cake was lemon chiffon with a lemon curd filling.

Lego cookies

At the last minute, my son decided he wanted a "Lego cake" for his birthday. (Since my mind was already racing with a different idea, he got a partial request!)

These sugar cookies were made for him to take to school and share with his clas........but they never quite made it out the door. Our household gobbled them up first!

Monkey Business

Cars 2 Francesco

My son has fallen in love with Francesco from the Cars 2 movie. He decided

that he wanted s 2-tier cake with Francesco on top- the toy, NOT FONDANT!!!

(Only a cake decorator's child would know what fondant was!)

His cupcakes (red, white & green cake) were a hit at school.

While the cat's away.....

This cake was in honor of our "kitten's" 3rd birthday. Hey....you can
always find an excuse for cake!!!! This one was banana
cream with a chocolate fudge filling.

Purse & make-up

This cake was for a young lady interested in make-up. The "cosmetics" are made of chocolate. Her favorite color is pink, but she wanted the purse to be red!!! (It's a woman's perogative!)

Astronaut on the Moon

Every year on July 20th, my mother reminds us all that they picked her birthday to walk on the moon. At last, the perfect birthday cake for her came to mind.

The decorated cookies were a big hit, too. (Mom turned the big "66" in case you were unsure of what the blue swirl cookie was about!!!!)

4th of July cookies

I had a "little helper" in the kitchen for our 4th of July cookies this year. My youngest (5 years old) wanted to help out. I think he did a great job. The cookies pictured at the top were inspired by those on the cover of the Martha Stewart magazine.

TV Dinner

What better way to celebrate Father's Day than with a TV dinner. This one had chicken drumsticks, mashed potatoes & gravy, peas & carrots & chocolate cake!!! (All were cupcakes decorated with edible items).

Dog Theme Cookies

These were perfect for the vet's receptionist. She is always very helpful, and it was our little way of saying "thanks for all you do"!!! (Of course the dogs are pugs, what else?!!)

The Cat's Meow

Yes, the kitty cake has been revisited. My uncle has always had cats for as long as I can remember. This time, instead of giving one a home, he got one as his birthday cake. He was quite surprised! (It was hard to keep the kids from eating a toe before we got it delivered.....80 miles away!!!)

Scouting Time

Had a hard time with the cub scout cake. Everyone was fearful of too much blue icing!!! The ceremony was for all the different levels of scouts so I finally found the official logo. (Sure was wishing I had my own edible image printer for this one). All details on the cakes are hand-done & NOT printed images.

whipping these guys out so he could also take 3 treats!!!

(They kids thought they were funny since they weren't the normal Easter egg!)

First Communion Cake

Cake in celebration of my son's first communion. The top layer was "zebra" and the bottom layer was white. I wasn't sure how the zebra tier would go over. I found out quickly....it was a HIT!!!

Topsy Turvy Birthday

For the Big 4-0, I made myself a special cake. Yes, another one I wanted to try. This was naturally decked out in my favorite color.....PURPLE!!!  Original design may look familiar to some of you. It's by The Pink Cakebox. Mine was covered in buttercream with fondant accents (with the exception of the middle tier). (Theirs is totally covered in fondant - a smarter way to go!!!)

Birthday Upside Down Cake

Saw this design done as a wedding cake and I had to try it. So.... who better to be the recipient but myself. That's right, this was my birthday cake. (We had cake forever!) Each layer was a different flavor; Top layer- strawberry swirl, Middle layer- Andes Dream (chocolate mint) and the Bottom layer - Orange Dreamcicle. All layers were iced in buttercream with fondant accents.

The Cat's Meow

This cake was in celebration of our kitten's 2nd birthday. This "puppy" (pardon the expression) was gone in a flash.

Chinese Take-Out

This Father's Day cake was an Orange Dreamcicle cake iced in buttercream and then covered with fondant panels. The "noodles" are strictly icing, of course! There were no problems getting the kids to eat their vegetables with this one!
